Check Your Child Tax Credits

The Child Tax Credit (CTC) is a tax credit for taxpayers who have dependent children under the age of 18. Workers who qualify for the CTC and file a 2021 federal tax return can receive a credit of up to $3,600 per child, based on the child’s age and the taxpayer’s income level.

For many taxpayers, advance payments of the child tax credit were sent out during the last half of 2021. The final amount of the 2021 eligible child tax credit will be determined when taxpayers file their 2021 income tax returns, and that amount will be reconciled with the advance payments previously received.

As such, advance payments will need to be reported on all 2021 income tax returns.

In January 2021, the IRS will send taxpayers Letter 6419 indicating the total amount of advance payments received. Please provide a copy of the letter with your income tax information.

If you do not have a copy of the IRS letter you may log-in to your IRS account at the link below to view and print a copy of your Advance Child Tax Credit payments received.
